Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said governance will be more streamlined. The boundaries of revenue districts and the municipal corporation will now be the same.
The Delhi Cabinet on Thursday (December 11) approved a major administrative overhaul, clearing a proposal to restructure the Capital's 11 revenue districts into 13 new districts. The reorganisation will make all districts co-terminus with the 12 Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) zones, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), and the Delhi Cantonment Board, ensuring uniformity across governance boundaries.
13 new revenue districts are:
The 11 existing revenue districts were Central, East, New Delhi, North, North East, North West, Shahdara, South, South East, South West and West.
Under the new system, the boundaries of multiple key departments will be aligned with the Revenue Department, a move the government says will enhance administrative efficiency and streamline public service delivery.
